# AppFox Frequently Asked Questions: Setup, Editing, Billing

> Answers to common questions about AppFox — setup, how editing works, plan limits, payment settlement, Shopify compatibility, and abuse prevention.

This page answers the most common questions merchants ask before and after installing AppFox. If you don't find what you need here, email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com) — a real person will get back to you.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Can customers edit their Shopify orders after checkout?">
    Not by default. Shopify has no built-in way for customers to change an order once it's placed — which is why "can I change my order?" support tickets exist in the first place.

    AppFox adds self-service order editing directly to your thank-you page and order status page — the pages Shopify already links from every order confirmation email. Customers can fix an address, swap a size, update a quantity, add or remove an item, or request a cancellation, all without contacting your support team. You set the rules for what's allowed and when.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do customers need to log in or create an account to edit?">
    No. AppFox editing appears right on the thank-you page and order status page that Shopify links from the confirmation email. There's nothing new to sign up for, no separate app to install, and no password to create or reset. Your customer sees their order, and the edit controls are right there.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when the edit window closes?">
    Once the edit window expires or the order reaches your fulfillment cutoff, AppFox simply doesn't show the editing interface. Customers don't see an error message or a "sorry, too late" prompt — the edit option is just absent. There are no declined requests and no friction. You control the window length, and AppFox enforces it silently.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What edit types can customers make?">
    It depends on your plan and what you've enabled:

    * **Free plan:** Address changes (with validation and autocomplete) and quantity changes.
    * **Growth and Pro plans:** All edit types — address changes, variant swaps (size and color), quantity changes, item adds and removes, and order cancellation.

    Within any plan, you only expose the edit types you've turned on. Anything you haven't enabled is never shown to your customers.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who pays the difference when an edit changes the order total?">
    It settles automatically — no manual reconciliation needed.

    * If the edit **raises** the total (for example, a customer adds an item or upgrades to a pricier variant), AppFox sends a payment request charged to the customer's original payment method.
    * If the edit **lowers** the total (for example, a customer removes an item or downgrades a variant), AppFox issues a partial refund.

    Everything happens in place on the original order. No second checkout, no new order number, no spreadsheet math.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why does in-place editing matter? What's the alternative?">
    Some order-editing apps "edit" an order by canceling the original and creating a brand-new one. That approach has two real costs: it forfeits Shopify Payments processing fees of 1.5–2.9% on every edit (fees Shopify doesn't return), and it sends your customer through a second checkout.

    AppFox edits orders in place using Shopify's native Order Editing API. The original order number, payment record, and processing fees all stay intact. Price differences — up or down — settle automatically against the original payment.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can customers abuse self-service order editing?">
    No. AppFox only shows customers the edit types you've specifically enabled, and only within the time window you've set. For sensitive actions like cancellations, you can require your approval before the edit applies — those requests land in your queue instead of going through automatically. Customers can't see or request anything outside the rules you've configured, and every change is recorded on a per-order audit timeline.

    You're delegating the typing, not the decision.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How long does setup take?">
    About 5 minutes. Install AppFox from the Shopify App Store, then configure your edit rules: which edit types to allow, how long your edit window should be, and whether certain actions (like cancellations) require approval before applying. Once you save your settings, AppFox is live on your thank-you and order status pages. No code changes, no theme edits, nothing to install for your customers.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does AppFox work with all Shopify plans?">
    Yes. AppFox works on every Shopify plan — Starter, Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus. There are no Shopify-plan restrictions on any AppFox feature.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do post-purchase upsells work?">
    When a customer opens their order to make an edit, AppFox displays your product offers right inside the editing flow. One click adds the item to their existing order — no second checkout, no new order number. Any price difference is charged automatically to their original payment method.

    Because the customer is already focused on their order with a payment method on file, this is one of the highest-attention moments you have after the sale. AI-powered upsell recommendations are available on Growth and Pro plans.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What integrations does AppFox support?">
    AppFox integrates with the following tools on Growth and Pro plans:

    * **Shopify Flow** — Trigger custom automations when an order is edited, or use AppFox actions inside your existing flows (for example, notifying a 3PL when an address changes).
    * **Gorgias** — See an order's edit status directly in the ticket sidebar, so your support team can resolve edit-related tickets without switching tabs.
    * **Slack** — Receive approval alerts and SLA-breach warnings so pending edits never sit unseen overnight.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I try AppFox before paying?">
    Yes — in two ways.

    The **Free plan** supports up to 50 edits per month and never expires. No card required, no time limit. It includes address and quantity edits, 2 active upsell offers, and email support. It's a fully working product, not a preview.

    **Growth ($19/mo) and Pro ($49/mo)** each include a **14-day free trial** with no card required. You get full access to the plan's features for two weeks. If it isn't earning its fee in saved support time and added revenue, you can walk away or drop back to the Free plan.
