# AppFox Frequently Asked Questions: Setup, Editing, Billing
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/faq
Answers to common questions about AppFox — setup, how editing works, plan limits, payment settlement, Shopify compatibility, and abuse prevention.
This page answers the most common questions merchants ask before and after installing AppFox. If you don't find what you need here, email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com) — a real person will get back to you.
Not by default. Shopify has no built-in way for customers to change an order once it's placed — which is why "can I change my order?" support tickets exist in the first place.
AppFox adds self-service order editing directly to your thank-you page and order status page — the pages Shopify already links from every order confirmation email. Customers can fix an address, swap a size, update a quantity, add or remove an item, or request a cancellation, all without contacting your support team. You set the rules for what's allowed and when.
No. AppFox editing appears right on the thank-you page and order status page that Shopify links from the confirmation email. There's nothing new to sign up for, no separate app to install, and no password to create or reset. Your customer sees their order, and the edit controls are right there.
Once the edit window expires or the order reaches your fulfillment cutoff, AppFox simply doesn't show the editing interface. Customers don't see an error message or a "sorry, too late" prompt — the edit option is just absent. There are no declined requests and no friction. You control the window length, and AppFox enforces it silently.
It depends on your plan and what you've enabled:
* **Free plan:** Address changes (with validation and autocomplete) and quantity changes.
* **Growth and Pro plans:** All edit types — address changes, variant swaps (size and color), quantity changes, item adds and removes, and order cancellation.
Within any plan, you only expose the edit types you've turned on. Anything you haven't enabled is never shown to your customers.
It settles automatically — no manual reconciliation needed.
* If the edit **raises** the total (for example, a customer adds an item or upgrades to a pricier variant), AppFox sends a payment request charged to the customer's original payment method.
* If the edit **lowers** the total (for example, a customer removes an item or downgrades a variant), AppFox issues a partial refund.
Everything happens in place on the original order. No second checkout, no new order number, no spreadsheet math.
Some order-editing apps "edit" an order by canceling the original and creating a brand-new one. That approach has two real costs: it forfeits Shopify Payments processing fees of 1.5–2.9% on every edit (fees Shopify doesn't return), and it sends your customer through a second checkout.
AppFox edits orders in place using Shopify's native Order Editing API. The original order number, payment record, and processing fees all stay intact. Price differences — up or down — settle automatically against the original payment.
No. AppFox only shows customers the edit types you've specifically enabled, and only within the time window you've set. For sensitive actions like cancellations, you can require your approval before the edit applies — those requests land in your queue instead of going through automatically. Customers can't see or request anything outside the rules you've configured, and every change is recorded on a per-order audit timeline.
You're delegating the typing, not the decision.
About 5 minutes. Install AppFox from the Shopify App Store, then configure your edit rules: which edit types to allow, how long your edit window should be, and whether certain actions (like cancellations) require approval before applying. Once you save your settings, AppFox is live on your thank-you and order status pages. No code changes, no theme edits, nothing to install for your customers.
Yes. AppFox works on every Shopify plan — Starter, Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus. There are no Shopify-plan restrictions on any AppFox feature.
When a customer opens their order to make an edit, AppFox displays your product offers right inside the editing flow. One click adds the item to their existing order — no second checkout, no new order number. Any price difference is charged automatically to their original payment method.
Because the customer is already focused on their order with a payment method on file, this is one of the highest-attention moments you have after the sale. AI-powered upsell recommendations are available on Growth and Pro plans.
AppFox integrates with the following tools on Growth and Pro plans:
* **Shopify Flow** — Trigger custom automations when an order is edited, or use AppFox actions inside your existing flows (for example, notifying a 3PL when an address changes).
* **Gorgias** — See an order's edit status directly in the ticket sidebar, so your support team can resolve edit-related tickets without switching tabs.
* **Slack** — Receive approval alerts and SLA-breach warnings so pending edits never sit unseen overnight.
Yes — in two ways.
The **Free plan** supports up to 50 edits per month and never expires. No card required, no time limit. It includes address and quantity edits, 2 active upsell offers, and email support. It's a fully working product, not a preview.
**Growth ($19/mo) and Pro ($49/mo)** each include a **14-day free trial** with no card required. You get full access to the plan's features for two weeks. If it isn't earning its fee in saved support time and added revenue, you can walk away or drop back to the Free plan.
Still have questions? Email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com). Growth plan includes priority support; Pro includes a dedicated account manager.
# How AppFox Works: From Customer Request to Settled Edit
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/how-it-works
Follow the full AppFox flow from customer request through eligibility check, payment settlement, and optional approval — in three steps.
When a customer wants to change their order, AppFox handles the entire sequence — eligibility check, edit interface, payment delta, and optional merchant approval — without any manual steps on your end. The customer starts on a page they're already on, sees only the edits your rules allow, makes the change, and the order settles itself. Here's what happens at each stage.
The edit flow lives on your thank-you page and order status page — the exact pages Shopify links from every order confirmation email. Your customer doesn't need to log in, create an account, or find a separate link. They click "Edit your order" right there in the confirmation email, and their order opens in your store's own branding. Nothing new to install, nothing to sign up for.
AppFox evaluates the order against your edit window, fulfillment cutoff, and per-action rules before showing anything. Only eligible edit types appear — if the window has closed or fulfillment has started, those options are simply absent. The customer can't request something they can't see.
From the options shown, the customer makes their change: corrects a shipping address (with autocomplete suggestions as they type), swaps a variant, adjusts a quantity, adds or removes an item, or submits a cancellation request. A one-click upsell offer can appear alongside the edit — accepted offers are added directly to the same order.
Once the customer submits, AppFox applies your approval rules:
* **Auto-apply** — edits you've configured as safe (for example, address corrections or variant swaps) are applied immediately to the original order via Shopify's Order Editing API.
* **Approval queue** — edits you've flagged as sensitive (for example, cancellations or item removals) are held for your review in the AppFox approval queue. You approve or decline; the change only applies when you act.
Either way, payment differences settle automatically. If the new order total is higher — a pricier variant, an added item, an accepted upsell — Shopify charges the customer the difference on the original payment method. If the total is lower, AppFox issues a partial refund. No manual invoices, no spreadsheet reconciliation. Every change is recorded on the order's audit timeline.
## In-place vs cancel-and-reorder
How an edit actually modifies the order matters more than it might seem. AppFox edits the original order in place; some other tools simulate editing by canceling the order and creating a new one.
| | |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Method** | Shopify's native Order Editing API modifies the original order directly |
| **Order number** | Preserved — same order number throughout |
| **Customer experience** | No second checkout; change is confirmed immediately |
| **Shopify Payments fees** | Preserved — no cancellation, so no fees are forfeited |
| **Payment settlement** | Price differences charged or refunded automatically on the original payment method |
| **Order history** | Intact — full audit trail on the original order |
Because AppFox never cancels the original order, the 1.5–2.9% Shopify Payments processing fee you already paid stays yours. On a $100 order, that's $1.50–\$2.90 saved on every single edit.
| | |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Method** | Original order is canceled; a new order is created to replace it |
| **Order number** | Lost — customer gets a new order number |
| **Customer experience** | Must complete a second checkout to resubmit payment |
| **Shopify Payments fees** | Forfeited — Shopify does not return processing fees on a cancellation |
| **Payment settlement** | Customer pays again in full; original payment is refunded separately |
| **Order history** | Split across two orders; original is marked canceled |
Every edit processed this way costs you 1.5–2.9% in fees that Shopify does not return, plus friction for your customer who has to check out again.
## The eligibility engine
Before AppFox shows a customer any edit options, it evaluates the order against three layers of rules you configure:
**Edit windows.** You set a time limit — 24 hours, 48 hours, or whatever matches your fulfillment pace. Once the window closes, editing closes with it. The customer sees no edit controls at all after the deadline.
**Fulfillment cutoffs.** As soon as an order ships or hits the fulfillment cutoff you've set, editing switches off automatically. Customers can't race your warehouse.
**Per-action rules.** Each edit type — address changes, variant swaps, quantity adjustments, cancellations — has its own approval setting. You can auto-apply some and require approval for others. The rules run per edit type, not per order, so you can be permissive where it's safe and conservative where it isn't.
Ineligible edits are never shown to the customer. There's no "sorry, too late" message to write, no awkward declined request to handle — the option simply isn't there if it isn't allowed.
Address validation catches typos before the carrier does. As a customer types a shipping address, AppFox provides autocomplete suggestions and checks the format in real time. A corrected address is confirmed at the time of the edit — not discovered as an undeliverable package two days later.
## Payment settlement
AppFox settles payment differences automatically in both directions, on the original payment method. You never need to issue a manual charge or refund.
**When the edit raises the total** — a pricier variant, an added line item, an accepted upsell — AppFox sends a Shopify payment request to the customer for the difference. The charge goes through on the card already on file. No second checkout, no new transaction.
**When the edit lowers the total** — a cheaper variant, a removed item, a canceled order — AppFox issues a partial refund for the difference automatically. The refund appears on the customer's original payment method.
Every payment event is recorded on the order's audit timeline alongside the edit that triggered it, so your books stay clean without any manual reconciliation.
Set time limits and fulfillment cutoffs that automatically close the edit window at the right moment.
Configure which edit types apply instantly and which wait in your approval queue.

## Get up and running
Find AppFox on the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/appfox-order-editing-upsell) and click **Install**. AppFox automatically embeds on your thank-you and order status pages — nothing to configure in your theme.
In the AppFox dashboard, choose which edit types to allow (address, variant, quantity, cancellation), set your edit window (e.g. 24 hours), and define your fulfillment cutoff.
Decide per edit type whether changes apply instantly or land in your approval queue. Safe edits like address fixes can auto-apply; sensitive ones like cancellations can require a human review.
Save your settings. Your customers can now self-serve their own edits — and your inbox gets quieter immediately.
## Why AppFox?
AppFox edits orders in place via Shopify's native Order Editing API, so your Shopify Payments fees (1.5–2.9%) are never forfeited.
The majority of common edit requests resolve without any staff involvement, while your rules stay fully in control.
The edit moment is the highest-attention window after checkout. AppFox places your product offers right there, one click to add.

# AppFox and Gorgias: Edit Status Inside Every Ticket
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/integrations/gorgias
See AppFox order edit status directly in the Gorgias sidebar. Approve or manage edits without leaving your helpdesk — no tab-switching required.
AppFox integrates with Gorgias to surface order edit information directly in the ticket sidebar. When a customer emails about their order, your support agents can see edit eligibility, any pending edit requests, and the full edit history for that order — all without leaving the Gorgias ticket. No tab-switching, no copy-pasting order numbers into a separate dashboard.
## What you see in Gorgias
The AppFox panel appears automatically in the sidebar of every Gorgias ticket. It shows:
* **Edit eligibility** — whether the order is still within the edit window, whether it has hit a fulfillment cutoff, and which edit types are currently available
* **Pending edit requests** — any requests the customer submitted that are awaiting merchant review, shown with their type, timestamp, and current status
* **Full edit history** — a complete record of every change made to the order: what was changed, when it happened, and whether it was auto-applied or approved by a team member
* **Quick approve / decline actions** — one-click buttons to approve or decline any pending edit request directly from the sidebar
## Set up the integration
Make sure your store is on the **Growth** or **Pro** plan. Open the AppFox dashboard and go to **Settings → Plan** to check or upgrade.
In the AppFox dashboard, navigate to **Integrations → Gorgias**.
Click **Connect** and complete the Gorgias authentication flow. AppFox needs permission to read ticket data and render the sidebar widget.
Once connected, the AppFox sidebar widget is automatically added to your Gorgias ticket views — no manual widget installation required in Gorgias.
Open any ticket in Gorgias where the customer has an associated order. The AppFox panel appears in the sidebar showing that order's edit eligibility, pending requests, and history.
## Approving edits from Gorgias
When an agent sees a pending edit request in the AppFox sidebar, they can approve or decline it with a single click — without switching to the AppFox dashboard. The action is recorded immediately in the AppFox audit timeline, so there's a full log of who reviewed the request and when. This keeps your helpdesk workflow intact: the agent handles the customer conversation and the edit decision in the same window.
When a customer emails asking to change their order, your agent can see the edit status and act on it in the same window — no copy-pasting order numbers between tabs.
The Gorgias integration is available on **Growth** ($19/mo) and **Pro** ($49/mo) plans.

# Connect AppFox to Shopify Flow for Order Edit Automations
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/integrations/shopify-flow
Trigger custom Shopify Flow automations from AppFox order edit events. Auto-tag orders, notify your warehouse, or reward upsells — no code required.
AppFox integrates natively with Shopify Flow, Shopify's built-in no-code automation builder. Every time a customer submits, approves, or declines an order edit — or accepts a post-purchase upsell — AppFox fires a Flow trigger that you can act on with any Flow action. AppFox also exposes its own Flow actions, so you can drive approval logic from other parts of your automation stack. No code, no webhooks to maintain.
## Available triggers
These AppFox events can start a Flow workflow:
* **Order edit submitted** — a customer submitted an edit request that is waiting for review or auto-processing
* **Order edit approved** — a merchant approved a queued edit request
* **Order edit declined** — a merchant declined a queued edit request
* **Order edit auto-applied** — an edit passed your eligibility rules and was applied instantly without manual review
* **Upsell offer accepted** — a customer accepted a post-purchase upsell offer during the edit flow
## Available actions
You can call these AppFox actions from inside any Flow workflow:
* **Approve a pending edit** — programmatically approve an edit request that is sitting in the approval queue
* **Decline a pending edit** — programmatically decline an edit request
## Example automations
**Trigger:** Order edit submitted
**What it does:** Every time a customer submits an edit request, Flow adds the tag `customer-edited` to the order in Shopify. This makes it easy to filter edited orders in your admin, export them for review, or trigger downstream automations based on that tag.
**Steps:**
1. In Flow, create a new workflow with the **AppFox — Order edit submitted** trigger.
2. Add a **Shopify — Add order tag** action.
3. Set the tag value to `customer-edited`.
4. Activate the workflow.
**Trigger:** Order edit auto-applied (item removed)
**What it does:** When a customer removes an item and the edit is applied automatically, Flow sends a webhook to your warehouse system so pick lists and packing slips can be updated before the order ships — no manual intervention required.
**Steps:**
1. In Flow, create a new workflow with the **AppFox — Order edit auto-applied** trigger.
2. Add a condition to check that the edit type is an item removal.
3. Add an **HTTP request** action pointing to your warehouse webhook endpoint.
4. Pass the order number and updated line items in the request body.
5. Activate the workflow.
**Trigger:** Upsell offer accepted
**What it does:** When a customer accepts a post-purchase upsell, Flow automatically adds a complimentary gift product to their order — a thank-you for the extra purchase that requires no manual fulfillment action on your end.
**Steps:**
1. In Flow, create a new workflow with the **AppFox — Upsell offer accepted** trigger.
2. Add an **AppFox — Approve a pending edit** action (if the gift addition requires confirmation), or use a native Shopify action to add the gift line item directly.
3. Optionally, add a **Shopify — Add order tag** action to tag the order `upsell-gift-added` for fulfillment tracking.
4. Activate the workflow.
## Set up the integration
Make sure your store is on the **Growth** or **Pro** plan. Open the AppFox dashboard and go to **Settings → Plan** to check or upgrade.
In your Shopify admin, go to **Apps → Flow**. If Flow isn't installed, add it from the Shopify App Store — it's free on all Shopify plans.
Click **Create workflow** and then **Browse triggers**. Search for **AppFox** in the trigger list to see all available AppFox events.
Select the trigger that matches your use case, then build out your workflow using Shopify Flow's visual builder. Add conditions and actions as needed — mix AppFox actions with native Shopify actions freely.
When your workflow is ready, click **Turn on workflow**. AppFox will begin firing the trigger in real time from that point forward.
Shopify Flow is available on all Shopify plans at no extra cost. AppFox Flow triggers and actions require the **Growth** ($19/mo) or **Pro** ($49/mo) plan.
# Set Up Slack Alerts for AppFox Order Edit Approvals
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/integrations/slack
Receive Slack notifications when customers submit edit requests or when an approval has been waiting too long. Never miss a pending edit.
AppFox can send Slack notifications to your team when a customer submits an edit request that needs merchant review, and again if that request has been sitting in the queue longer than your configured threshold. Pending edits never sit unseen overnight — your team is looped in the moment action is needed, without anyone having to check the AppFox dashboard.
## What triggers a Slack alert
AppFox sends a Slack message in two situations:
* **New approval request** — a customer submitted an edit that falls outside your auto-apply rules and requires a merchant to review it before it is applied
* **SLA breach warning** — an approval request has been pending longer than your configured threshold without being reviewed, prompting the team to act before the customer is left waiting
## Set up Slack notifications
Make sure your store is on the **Growth** or **Pro** plan. Open the AppFox dashboard and go to **Settings → Plan** to check or upgrade.
In the AppFox dashboard, navigate to **Integrations → Slack**.
Click **Connect to Slack** and authorize AppFox to post messages in your Slack workspace. You'll go through Slack's standard OAuth flow and return to AppFox when it's done.
Select the Slack channel where AppFox should send alerts — for example `#orders` or `#support`. AppFox posts to a single channel; you can update this at any time from the Integrations page.
Enter the time after which AppFox should send a follow-up alert if an approval request hasn't been reviewed — for example, **4 hours**. Leave the field blank to disable SLA alerts and receive only new-request notifications.
Click **Save**. AppFox will post to your chosen Slack channel immediately when a new approval request arrives and again each time your SLA threshold is crossed for an unreviewed request.
## Alert format
Each Slack message includes:
* **Order number** — links directly to the order in your Shopify admin
* **Customer name** — so the agent knows who submitted the request
* **Edit type requested** — for example, address change, variant swap, item removal, or cancellation
* **Time submitted** — the timestamp when the customer submitted the request
* **Direct link to the approval queue** — one click takes the reviewer straight to the pending request in AppFox
Slack alerts are for approval-queue edits only. Auto-applied edits don't generate Slack notifications because no merchant action is needed — those edits are already handled.
Set your SLA threshold to match your store's service expectations — for example, 4 hours during business days or 24 hours if you operate across multiple time zones.
Slack integration is available on **Growth** ($19/mo) and **Pro** ($49/mo) plans.

# Introduction to AppFox Order Editing & Upsell
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/introduction
AppFox is a Shopify app that allows customers to edit their orders after checkout without contacting your support team.
Customers can access the editing experience directly from Shopify's **Thank You** and **Order Status** pages. Depending on the rules you configure, they can:
* Update their shipping address
* Swap product variants (such as size or color)
* Change product quantities
* Add or remove products
* Cancel eligible orders
* Accept post-purchase upsell offers
Because customers can handle these requests themselves, your support team spends less time on routine order changes and more time on requests that require manual assistance.
# Why Use AppFox?
Managing post-purchase requests manually can be time-consuming and expensive. Common customer requests include:
* "I entered the wrong shipping address."
* "I'd like a different size or color."
* "Can I add another product?"
* "I'd like to remove an item."
* "I want to cancel my order."
AppFox helps automate these requests while giving you full control over what customers can and cannot change.
### Reduce Support Tickets:
Customers can edit eligible orders themselves, reducing the number of repetitive support requests your team receives.
### Prevent Shipping Errors
Built-in address validation helps customers correct shipping mistakes before orders are fulfilled.
### Preserve Your Original Order
Unlike apps that cancel and recreate orders, AppFox edits the existing Shopify order using Shopify's native Order Editing API. This keeps the original order number, payment information, and order history intact. \[[6](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/fulfillment/managing-orders/editing-orders)]
# How AppFox Works
1. A customer opens the **Thank You** or **Order Status** page after placing an order.
2. AppFox displays the editing options available for that order.
3. The customer submits their changes.
4. AppFox updates the original Shopify order.
5. If required, the request is sent for manual approval before the changes are applied.
**If the updated order total changes:**
* Customers are automatically charged if the total increases.
* Partial refunds are automatically issued if the total decreases.
# Configure Your Order Editing Rules
You decide what customers can edit by configuring:
* Order editing window
* Fulfillment cut-off time
* Approval requirements
* Allowed editing actions
Customers only see the actions that are available based on your settings.
# Main Features
## Address Validation
Allow customers to update their shipping address with autocomplete and validation to reduce shipping errors.
## Variant Swaps
Customers can switch product variants, such as changing a size or color, without contacting support.
## Quantity Updates
Customers can increase or decrease the quantity of products already included in their order.
## Add or Remove Products
Customers can add forgotten items or remove products before the order is fulfilled.
## Self-Service Order Cancellation
Allow customers to cancel eligible orders within the editing window.
## Approval Queue
Automatically apply low-risk changes while sending selected requests for manual review.

# Approval Queue and Auto-Apply Settings for Order Edits
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/order-editing/approvals
Configure each edit type to auto-apply or route to your approval queue. Get Slack alerts, audit timelines, and Gorgias integration for fast review.
Every edit type in AppFox has its own approval mode. You choose whether a submitted edit applies instantly — auto-apply — or holds for your review in the approval queue. This is a per-edit-type setting, so you can make different calls for different risk levels: auto-apply a low-stakes address fix while routing cancellations to a human. The customer is notified either way, and every action is recorded on a full audit timeline.
## Auto-apply vs approval queue
**When to use it:** Auto-apply works well for edits that are low-risk, time-sensitive, or where manual review adds no meaningful protection — address corrections and quantity increases are the most common examples.
**How it works:** When a customer submits an eligible edit, AppFox checks it against your rules (edit window, fulfillment cutoff, per-action eligibility). If it passes, the edit is applied to the order immediately, without any merchant action required. The customer receives a branded confirmation email. The edit is recorded on the order's audit timeline with a timestamp and the rule that triggered auto-approval.
You are not required to do anything. The order is updated, payment settles if needed, and the customer is informed — all automatically.
**When to use it:** Use the approval queue for edits that have warehouse, inventory, or financial implications — cancellations, item removals, and variant swaps on low-stock products are good candidates. If the edit should have a human checkpoint before it takes effect, route it to the queue.
**How it works:** When a customer submits an edit, it passes your eligibility rules but is held rather than applied. The edit appears in your AppFox approval queue, where you can review the full request and approve or decline it. AppFox sends you a Slack alert (if configured) when a new request arrives. The customer does not receive a change confirmation until you act — they receive a notification either way once you approve or decline.
Every queued edit includes the order details, the requested change, and the full edit history for that order, so you have context when you review.
## Setting approval mode per edit type
You configure approval mode separately for each edit type, directly in the AppFox dashboard. Changes take effect immediately for new edit requests.
From your Shopify admin, go to **Apps** and open **AppFox**.
In the AppFox sidebar, select **Edit Rules**.
Find the edit type you want to configure — for example, **Cancellations** or **Address Changes** — and open its settings.
Select your preferred approval mode for that edit type and save. Repeat for each edit type you want to configure differently.
For example, a common setup is: address changes and quantity increases on auto-apply; variant swaps, item removals, and cancellations routed to the approval queue. You don't have to commit to all-or-nothing — mix and match based on what each edit type means for your operations.
## Approval queue tools
AppFox includes several tools to make the approval queue fast to manage and easy to integrate into your existing support workflow.
**Slack alerts**
Connect your Slack workspace to receive a notification whenever a new edit request enters the approval queue. You can also configure SLA threshold alerts — if a request has been waiting longer than your defined response window (e.g. 2 hours), AppFox sends a follow-up alert so nothing sits unseen overnight.
**Gorgias sidebar**
If your team uses Gorgias for customer support, the AppFox sidebar shows the edit status, edit window remaining, and pending approval requests directly inside the ticket — without switching tabs. Your agents can see whether an edit is pending, auto-applied, or approved, and act accordingly, all from within Gorgias.
**Audit timeline**
Every order has a full, chronological audit timeline that records every edit event: when the request was submitted, which rule was evaluated, who approved or declined it, and when the change was applied. The audit timeline gives you a clear record for any dispute or customer inquiry.
**Shopify Flow**
AppFox includes Shopify Flow triggers and actions for edit events. You can trigger a Flow when an edit is submitted, approved, or declined — for example, to notify your 3PL when an address changes, or to tag an order when a cancellation is approved. Flow actions let you build custom automations around the approval queue without writing code.
A good starting point: auto-apply address changes and quantity increases; route variant swaps, item removals, and cancellations to the approval queue. This handles the majority of edits automatically while keeping a human in the loop for the changes most likely to affect your warehouse or revenue.
Branded transactional emails are sent automatically for every edit event — change confirmations, approval notifications, and decline notices. Your logo, your store name, your branding. Customers are always kept informed of the status of their request, and you don't have to send a single email manually.
## Next steps
Trigger automations when edits are submitted, approved, or declined.
View edit status and pending requests inside Gorgias tickets without switching apps.

# Edit Types: What Customers Can Change in Their Orders
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/order-editing/edit-types
Configure which edit types customers can self-serve: address changes, variant swaps, quantity updates, item adds and removes, and cancellations.
AppFox supports five edit types, each independently enabled and configured from your dashboard. You can turn on only the ones that fit your store's workflow, set approval behavior per type, and restrict any of them by edit window or fulfillment cutoff. Which edit types are available depends on your plan — the Free plan covers the most common requests, while Growth and Pro unlock the full set.
The Free plan supports address and quantity edits. Growth and Pro unlock all five edit types.
## Edit types
A customer can update the shipping address on their order before it ships. The address field includes autocomplete and real-time validation, so common typos — a transposed street number, a missing apartment — get caught and corrected at the point of entry rather than after a failed delivery attempt.
Address changes are available on **all plans**, including Free.
**Recommended approval mode:** Auto-apply. Address corrections are low-risk and time-sensitive — getting the right address on record quickly benefits you and the customer.
A customer can swap the variant on an existing line item — changing size (S → L) or color (Navy → Black) — without you needing to cancel and reissue the order. The swap stays on the same product; it changes only the selected variant. If the new variant has a different price, the difference settles automatically.
Variant swaps are available on **Growth and Pro** plans.
**Recommended approval mode:** Auto-apply or approval queue, depending on your inventory sensitivity. If certain variants are low-stock, route swaps to the approval queue so you can check availability before confirming.
A customer can increase or decrease the quantity of any line item on the order. Increasing a quantity triggers an automatic payment request for the difference; decreasing one triggers an automatic partial refund. Both happen on the original payment method — no manual reconciliation required.
Quantity changes are available on **all plans**, including Free.
**Recommended approval mode:** Auto-apply for increases (more revenue, low risk); consider approval queue for large decreases if you want to review before issuing a refund.
A customer can add a product they forgot to include at checkout or remove an item they no longer want — all on the existing order. Adding an item charges the customer the item price automatically. Removing an item issues a partial refund automatically. The original order number and payment record stay intact throughout.
Add/Remove items are available on **Growth and Pro** plans.
**Recommended approval mode:** Auto-apply for additions; approval queue for removals, since removals trigger refunds and may warrant a review.
A customer can cancel their order entirely within your edit window. You choose whether cancellations are auto-applied immediately or held in your approval queue for review — for example, if your fulfillment team needs to confirm the order hasn't already been picked before processing the cancellation.
Order cancellation is available on **Growth and Pro** plans.
**Recommended approval mode:** Approval queue. Cancellations are irreversible and may have warehouse implications, so most stores prefer to review them before confirming.
## Payment settlement for price-changing edits
When an edit changes the order total, AppFox handles the payment difference automatically — no manual invoices, no spreadsheet math, no second checkout.
* **Price increase** (pricier variant, added item, increased quantity): AppFox sends the customer an automatic payment request through Shopify. The charge is applied to their original payment method.
* **Price decrease** (cheaper variant, removed item, reduced quantity): AppFox issues an automatic partial refund to the customer's original payment method.
All of this happens in place on the original order using Shopify's native Order Editing API. The order number, payment record, and Shopify Payments fees (1.5–2.9%) are preserved — unlike cancel-and-reorder approaches, which forfeit those fees on every edit.
Set each edit type to auto-apply or approval queue, and connect Slack, Gorgias, and Shopify Flow for your review workflow.
# Edit Windows and Fulfillment Cutoffs for Order Editing
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/order-editing/edit-windows
Set how long customers can edit their orders and when editing closes automatically at fulfillment. Keep your warehouse safe from last-minute changes.
AppFox's edit windows let you define exactly how long customers can make changes after placing an order. Without a boundary, a customer could technically request an address change on an order your warehouse picked this morning. Edit windows and fulfillment cutoffs close that gap — they ensure editing is always available when it's useful and never available when it would cause a problem. Both are evaluated server-side before the edit UI is shown, so no customer ever sees an option they aren't eligible for.
## Edit window
The edit window is a time-based limit you set — for example, 24 hours or 48 hours after order placement. Once the window expires, the editing interface is no longer shown to the customer. There's no error message, no declined request — the option simply isn't there.
To set your edit window:
From your Shopify admin, go to **Apps** and open **AppFox**.
In the AppFox sidebar, select **Edit Rules**.
Under **Edit Window**, enter the number of hours you want to allow after order placement (e.g. `24` for a 24-hour window).
Click **Save changes**. The new window takes effect immediately for all future orders.
## Fulfillment cutoff
The fulfillment cutoff is a separate, parallel control. Regardless of how much time is left in the edit window, editing closes automatically as soon as an order is marked as fulfilled (shipped) in Shopify — or when it hits a fulfillment cutoff you define.
This matters for stores with fast-moving fulfillment. If your warehouse picks orders the same morning they're placed, a 24-hour edit window would technically allow edits on orders that are already in transit. The fulfillment cutoff prevents that: once the order is in the fulfillment pipeline, the window closes, even if the time hasn't expired.
You can configure your fulfillment cutoff in **Edit Rules** alongside your edit window.
## How ineligibility works
Both the edit window and fulfillment cutoff are evaluated server-side before any edit options are rendered for the customer. The evaluation happens silently:
* If the edit window has expired, the editing interface isn't shown.
* If the order is fulfilled or past your cutoff, the editing interface isn't shown.
* If a specific edit type is disabled by your per-action rules, that option isn't shown.
Customers never encounter a "sorry, you can't edit this order" screen for time or fulfillment reasons — they simply see no edit options. There are no declined requests to handle and no friction for customers who are genuinely past the window.
If you use third-party fulfillment or ship same-day, set a tight fulfillment cutoff to prevent edits on orders already in the warehouse. Your edit window alone won't be enough if orders are picked before the window expires.
## Recommended settings
The right settings depend on how fast your fulfillment moves. Here are practical starting points:
* **Next-day or 2-day shipping:** Use a **24-hour edit window**. Most legitimate post-purchase edits happen within the first hour or two, and a 24-hour window gives customers a reasonable correction period without cutting into your pick time.
* **Longer fulfillment times (3–7 days):** Use a **48–72 hour edit window**. Customers on slower shipping timelines have more runway to catch and fix a mistake before the order is processed.
* **Same-day or fast fulfillment:** Set a **short fulfillment cutoff** (e.g. 2–4 hours after order placement) and keep your edit window tight. Your cutoff, not the time window, will be the binding constraint.
* **All stores:** Always configure your fulfillment cutoff to match the point at which your warehouse begins picking. This is the most important setting for protecting your operations from last-minute changes.
Configure auto-apply and approval queue behavior for each edit type.

# Order Editing Overview: Let Customers Fix Their Orders
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/order-editing/overview
AppFox adds self-service order editing to your Shopify store's thank-you and order status pages — no code, no login, no cancel-and-reorder.
AppFox puts order editing controls directly on your thank-you page and order status page — the pages Shopify already links from every order confirmation email. When a customer needs to fix an address, swap a size, or cancel an order, they do it themselves, right there, without contacting your support team. You define the rules: which edit types are allowed, how long the editing window stays open, and whether changes apply instantly or wait for your review. Everything else is handled automatically.
## How editing works for customers
Every order confirmation email Shopify sends contains a link to the order status page. When a customer opens that link, they see the edit options your rules allow — nothing more, nothing less. They make their change, confirm it, and the edit either applies immediately or enters your approval queue, depending on how you've configured that edit type. If the change affects the order total, payment settles automatically: the customer is charged for any increase or refunded for any decrease, all on their original payment method. A branded confirmation email goes out once the edit is complete.
## Available edit types
AppFox supports five edit types, each independently configured. Enable the ones that make sense for your store and set the rules for each.
Customer updates their shipping address with autocomplete and validation to catch typos before the carrier does.
Customer swaps size or color on an existing line item — same product, different variant.
Customer increases or decreases the quantity of a line item; price difference settles automatically.
Customer adds a forgotten product or removes an item from the order; payment difference settles automatically.
Customer cancels the order within your edit window — auto-applied or routed to your approval queue.
## Merchant controls
You stay in control of every aspect of the editing experience:
* **Edit windows** — Set a time limit (e.g. 24h, 48h) after order placement. Once the window expires, editing is simply not available.
* **Fulfillment cutoffs** — Once an order ships or reaches the fulfillment cutoff you define, editing closes automatically, regardless of the time window.
* **Per-action rules** — Enable or disable each edit type independently and configure its behavior without affecting the others.
* **Ineligible edits hidden** — Any edit type that doesn't apply to a given order is never shown. Customers cannot request changes that fall outside your rules.
* **Approval queue vs auto-apply** — For each edit type, choose whether changes apply instantly or wait for your review before taking effect.
Ineligible edits are never shown to customers — they can only request changes your rules allow.

Billing runs entirely through Shopify, which means AppFox charges appear on your existing Shopify invoice alongside your other apps. There are no per-edit overage fees on any plan, and no caps on upsell revenue, regardless of which tier you're on.

## What counts as an edit
An edit is a change a customer **completes** on your thank-you or order status page. That includes an address fix, a variant swap (size or color), a quantity change, adding or removing an item, or a cancellation. Each completed change counts as one edit against your monthly total.
Simply opening the order status page or browsing the edit form does **not** count. And on Growth and Pro, none of this is tracked — edits are unlimited.
## Billing details
* Billing is **monthly only** — there is no annual plan or discount toggle.
* All charges are **managed through Shopify** and appear on your existing Shopify invoice.
* **Upgrades** take effect immediately — you get access to the new plan's features right away.
* **Downgrades** take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
* You can **cancel any time** from the Shopify App Store or your AppFox dashboard.
## Changing plans
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Go to the AppFox dashboard and open the **Billing** section, or navigate directly to the [AppFox listing on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/appfox-order-editing-upsell) and select a new plan. Upgrades apply immediately so you're never waiting for a billing cycle to access a feature. Downgrades apply at your next billing date, so you keep the current plan's features until then.
## Refunds
AppFox charges run through Shopify's standard app billing. The Free plan and 14-day trial on paid plans are designed so you never pay for something unproven. If a charge ever feels wrong — you forgot to cancel, you downgraded late, something didn't work as expected — email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com). Every request is reviewed individually, and the benefit of the doubt goes to you, the merchant.

# AppFox Quickstart: Set Up Order Editing in 5 Minutes
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/quickstart
Install AppFox on your Shopify store and go live with self-service order editing in about five minutes. No code or theme changes required.
This guide walks you through installing AppFox and configuring your first set of edit rules. The whole process takes about five minutes, and no code or theme changes are needed — AppFox automatically adds order editing controls to your thank-you and order status pages the moment you install it.
## Before you begin
* You'll need admin access to your Shopify store.
* AppFox works on all Shopify plans — no Shopify Plus or custom theme required.
* No developer help or theme editing is needed at any point in this setup.
## Get up and running
Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "AppFox", or click [Install AppFox](https://apps.shopify.com/appfox-order-editing-upsell) to open the listing directly. Click **Install** and confirm the app permissions. That's it — AppFox is immediately active on your thank-you and order status pages. No theme edits, no snippet placement.
After install, click **Open app** in the confirmation screen, or find AppFox under **Apps** in your Shopify admin. The dashboard is where you'll configure everything in the next steps.
In the dashboard, go to **Edit Rules**. Toggle on the edit types you want to allow your customers to make:
* **Address change** — lets customers fix a shipping address before the order ships
* **Variant swap** — size and color changes on existing line items
* **Quantity** — increase or decrease the quantity of an item
* **Add / Remove items** — add a forgotten product or drop one from the order
* **Cancellation** — self-service order cancellation within your edit window
Variant swaps, add/remove, and cancellations require a Growth or Pro plan. Address and quantity edits are available on the Free plan.
Set how long after order placement customers can make edits — for example, 24 hours or 48 hours. Once that window closes, the editing UI stops appearing for that order.
Also set your **fulfillment cutoff**: when an order ships, editing automatically closes regardless of how much time remains in the edit window. Customers can never race your warehouse.
For each edit type you've enabled, decide whether changes **auto-apply immediately** or go into your **approval queue** for review. You configure this per edit type, so you can have different rules for different actions.
A sensible starting point: auto-apply address changes and quantity adjustments; send cancellations to the approval queue. You can tighten or loosen these settings at any time.
Go to **Upsells** in the dashboard and create an offer. Select the product you want to promote, write a short offer title, and activate it. The offer will appear inside the edit flow immediately — shown to any customer who opens their order to make a change. One click adds the item to their existing order with no second checkout.
Place a test order on your store, open the order confirmation email, and click the order status link. You'll see the AppFox edit controls live on the page — exactly what your customers will see. Confirm the edit types you enabled are visible and that your edit window is reflected correctly.
## What happens next
Once you're live, any customer who arrives on their thank-you or order status page will see the edit UI automatically. AppFox evaluates each order against your rules before showing anything — only eligible edit types appear, and options that are outside your window or past your fulfillment cutoff are never shown. Customers can't request what they're not allowed to do.
For edits set to auto-apply, changes settle immediately and the customer receives a confirmation. For edits in your approval queue, you'll see them in the **Approvals** section of your dashboard. If you've connected Slack, you'll also receive an alert there so a pending edit never sits unreviewed overnight.
Start with address and quantity edits enabled on auto-apply. Once you see how the flow works, add more edit types and tweak your approval settings.

# How to let Shopify customers edit their own orders
The AppFox Team · June 12, 2026
Every store gets the same email. "Can I change my order?" Wrong size, wrong address, one more item. By default, Shopify gives the customer no way to fix it themselves - so the request lands in your inbox, and someone on your team becomes the edit button.
There are a few ways to handle this. They are not equal.
## Option 1: Edit it by hand
An agent reads the ticket, finds the order, makes the change in the Shopify admin, and replies. It works, but it scales linearly with your order volume - every edit is a few minutes of human time, and the customer waits in the meantime.
## Option 2: Cancel and reorder
Some apps "edit" an order by canceling the original and creating a new one. It looks automated, but it has a hidden cost: Shopify Payments fees of 1.5 - 2.9% aren't returned on a cancellation, so you forfeit them on every edit. The customer also gets a new order number and, often, a second trip through checkout.
## Option 3: Let the customer self-serve
The cleanest option is to give the edit back to the person who wants it. Editing lives right on your thank-you and order status pages - the ones Shopify already links from every confirmation email - so there's no login and no new app to find.
The key is to do it in place. Editing the original order through Shopify's native Order Editing API keeps the order number, the payment, and the fees intact. Price differences are charged or refunded automatically, and you decide which edits apply instantly and which wait for approval.
### What a good self-service setup includes
* —Address changes with autocomplete and validation, so typos get caught before the carrier does
* —Variant swaps, quantity changes, and add/remove items - within rules you set
* —Edit windows and fulfillment cutoffs, so editing closes before it can cause a problem
* —An approval queue for sensitive edits, with an audit trail on every order
> You're delegating the typing, not the decision.
Done well, roughly 80% of common edits never reach a human. The ones that do arrive with full context, already checked against your rules.
AppFox lets Shopify customers fix their own orders - addresses, sizes, cancellations - right on your thank-you and order status pages, with one-click upsells built in. [See how it works](https://getappfox.com/features).

# Post-purchase upsells customers actually welcome
The AppFox Team · June 3, 2026
Post-purchase upsells have a reputation for being annoying. Usually that's a placement problem, not an offer problem. The pitch shows up in a follow-up email that gets ignored, or on a thank-you page the customer already closed.
## Sell where attention already is
There's one moment after checkout when a customer is fully engaged with their order: when they open it to edit something. They're already inside the order, their payment is on file, and their attention is undivided. That's the window.
An offer shown inside the edit flow doesn't interrupt anything - it's adjacent to what the customer came to do. One click adds the item to the existing order. No second checkout, no new order number, no abandoned cart to chase.
## Why one-click, in-place adds matter
* —The customer keeps their original order - no confusing duplicate confirmations
* —Any price difference is charged automatically through Shopify
* —Because the order is edited in place, you keep the Shopify Payments fees you'd lose to a cancel-and-reorder flow
* —The offer is relevant: it's attached to a purchase the customer just made
## Keep it tasteful
Welcome doesn't mean aggressive. Limit the number of offers, make them genuinely complementary, and let merchants - not the customer's patience - set the rules. The best post-purchase upsell feels like a helpful suggestion, because it is one.
> They came to fix a typo. They left with the matching beanie.

# Cut "can I change my order?" tickets without hiring
The AppFox Team · June 8, 2026
If your support volume grows in lockstep with your order volume, a big slice of it is probably one category: order changes. Address fixes, size swaps, accidental double orders, last-minute cancellations. None of them are hard. They're just constant.
## Why these tickets are expensive
It isn't only the minutes spent replying. An address typo nobody catches becomes a failed delivery and a reship. A cancellation that sits overnight becomes a chargeback. The ticket is the cheap part; the downstream cost is the rest.
## Remove them at the source
You can't write your way out of a volume problem with faster replies. The fix is to make the edit something the customer can do without you.
1. 1.Put editing where customers already are - the thank-you and order status pages, no login required.
2. 2.Validate addresses at entry, so the most common edit corrects itself.
3. 3.Set edit windows and fulfillment cutoffs, so requests stop before they can cause damage.
4. 4.Auto-apply the safe edits and queue only the sensitive ones for a human.
## What's left for your team
After self-service, the tickets that remain are the genuine exceptions - and they arrive pre-checked against your rules, with a full edit history attached. Your team stops being the edit button and starts handling the cases that actually need judgment.
> The goal isn't faster answers to "can I change my order?" - it's never getting the email.
AppFox lets Shopify customers fix their own orders - addresses, sizes, cancellations - right on your thank-you and order status pages, with one-click upsells built in. [See how it works](https://getappfox.com/features).

# Everything that happens after checkout, handled
An order isn't finished when the customer pays - that's when the address typos surface, the size regrets kick in, and the "actually, add one more" emails start. AppFox turns all of it into a self-service flow that follows your rules, settles its own payments, and sells a little more along the way. Here's the full tour.
NO. 01 - SELF-SERVICE EDITINGOn the pages customers already land on
## Editing where your customers already are
AppFox lives on your thank-you page and order status page - the page Shopify already links from every order confirmation email. There's no separate app to find, no login, no account creation, no support thread: the customer is looking at their order, and the edit controls are right there. Because both pages are part of your store's checkout, the whole experience is in your branding by default. Customers see only the edits they're allowed to make, and finish in a couple of taps.
* Editing on the thank-you page and order status page - no new link, no login, nothing to install for customers
* Shipping address changes with validation and autocomplete, so bad addresses get caught before they ship
* Variant swaps for size and color, quantity updates, and adding or removing items
* Self-service order cancellation within your edit window
* Part of your store's checkout, so it's mobile-first and in your branding
* One-click post-purchase upsells inside the edit flow - added to the existing order, no second checkout

NO. 02 - CONTROLS & APPROVALSEligibility decided before customers see a thing
## Self-service for them, control for you
The fear with customer editing is the order your warehouse already picked. AppFox's eligibility engine evaluates every order against your edit windows (say, 24 hours), fulfillment cutoffs, and per-action rules - and edits that don't qualify are never shown, so customers can't request what you can't grant. For everything else, you decide per edit type whether it applies instantly or waits for a human.
* Edit windows, fulfillment cutoffs, and per-action eligibility rules
* Ineligible edits hidden from customers entirely - no requests to decline
* Auto-apply for safe edits, approval queue for sensitive ones, configured per edit type
* Full audit timeline on every order - who changed what, when
* Slack alerts for pending approvals and SLA breaches
* Shopify Flow triggers and actions to wire edits into the rest of your operation

NO. 03 - PAYMENTS & ACCURACYIn place, on the original payment
## Edits that don’t break your books
AppFox edits orders in place through Shopify's native Order Editing API - it never cancels and reorders. That means the original order number, payment, and history stay intact, customers never sit through a second checkout, and you never forfeit the Shopify Payments fees of 1.5–2.9% that [cancel-and-reorder tools](https://getappfox.com/vs/orderify) quietly burn on every edit. Price differences settle themselves in both directions.
* In-place editing via Shopify's native Order Editing API - never cancel-and-reorder
* Shopify Payments fees preserved on every edit
* Automatic payment requests when an edit raises the total
* Automatic partial refunds when an edit lowers it
* Address validation and autocomplete to prevent failed deliveries
* Branded transactional emails confirming every change

NO. 04 - REVENUE & INSIGHTSThe most engaged shopper you have
## The edit flow that earns its keep
A customer reviewing their order is the most engaged shopper you have - payment on file, intent proven minutes ago. AppFox places your upsell offers inside that moment and adds accepted offers to the existing order with one click. Then the analytics dashboard shows you exactly what the whole loop is doing: what customers fix, what they buy, and how fast your team clears the queue.
* Post-purchase upsells shown inside the edit flow
* One-click add to the existing order - no second checkout, no new order number
* AI-powered upsell recommendations ([Growth plan and up](https://getappfox.com/pricing))
* Dashboard tracking edit volume, approval rates, upsell revenue, and time-to-approve

Product demo: a customer opens order #1042 on OAK & ANCHOR's order status page, fixes a shipping-address typo with address validation, swaps a tee from size M to L, and adds a matching beanie for $24.00 - the total updates from $86.00 to \$110.00 on the original payment, with no second checkout. NO. 02 - THE PROBLEMThree emails, three costs, every morning.
“
> Hi - can I change my order?”
## Every order edit is costing you three times
The same three emails arrive every morning. *“Can I change my order?”* *“I typo’d my apartment number.”* *“Actually, can I get a large instead?”* Each one costs you:
1. 1.
**The ticket.** An agent reads it, hunts down the order, and edits it by hand - every time.
2. 2.
**The delivery.** Uncaught address typos become failed deliveries. Overnight cancellations become chargebacks.
3. 3.
**The fee.** Tools that [cancel and reorder](https://getappfox.com/vs/orderify) forfeit 1.5–2.9% in Shopify fees - $1.50–$2.90 per \$100 order, gone.
AppFox removes all three. Customers self-serve inside your rules, addresses get validated, and edits happen in place - so the fees stay yours.

## The questions you’d ask before installing
Didn't see yours? Ask us directly at [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com).
Can customers edit their orders on Shopify after checkout?
Not by default - Shopify has no built-in way for customers to change an order once it's placed, which is why "can I change my order?" tickets exist. An [order editing app like AppFox](https://getappfox.com/features) lets customers fix addresses, swap variants, change quantities, add or remove items, or cancel - right on your thank-you and order status pages, within rules you set.
How do post-purchase upsells work?
When a customer opens their order to edit it, AppFox shows the offers you've set up right inside the edit flow. One click adds the product to their existing order - no second checkout, no new order number - and any price difference is charged automatically through Shopify. They're already focused on their order, so it's the highest-attention moment after the sale.
Do customers need an account or login to edit an order?
No. Customers edit right on your store's thank-you page or order status page - the page Shopify already links from every order confirmation email. There's nothing to sign up for and no password to reset.
What happens once an order is fulfilled, or my edit window closes?
Nothing - and that's the point. AppFox checks your edit windows, fulfillment cutoffs, and per-action rules before showing anything, so an edit that's no longer allowed simply never appears. Customers can't request what they can't see - no awkward "sorry, too late" email.
Who pays the difference when an edit changes the order total?
It settles automatically. If the new total is higher - a pricier variant, an added item, an upsell - the customer pays the difference through Shopify's payment request flow. If it's lower, AppFox issues a partial refund. No manual invoices, no spreadsheet math.
Can customers abuse self-service order editing?
Customers only ever see edits you've allowed, inside the windows you've set. For anything sensitive, require approval per edit type - those wait in your queue instead of applying automatically - and every change is recorded on a per-order audit timeline. You're delegating the typing, not the decision.
Why does in-place editing matter?
Some tools "edit" orders by canceling the original and creating a new one. That forfeits Shopify Payments fees of 1.5–2.9% per [cancel-and-reorder](https://getappfox.com/vs/orderify) edit - fees Shopify doesn't return - and sends the customer through checkout again. AppFox edits the original order in place using Shopify's native Order Editing API, so the order number, payment, and fees all stay intact.
How long does setup take, and which plans does it work on?
About 5 minutes, with no code. AppFox works on all Shopify plans, the Free tier is genuinely free (50 edits a month), and paid plans include a 14-day trial with no card required.
## Your next “can I change my order?” email could be your last
Set your rules and let \~80% of edits handle themselves - while the edit flow quietly grows your average order. Five-minute setup. The free plan never expires.

## Questions, answered.
How does the free trial work?
Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and we don't ask for a card to begin. Use the full plan for two weeks; if it isn't earning its fee in saved tickets and added revenue, walk away - or drop down to the Free plan and keep using AppFox at no cost.
What's actually included in the Free plan?
The Free plan is a working product, not a teaser: 50 customer edits a month, address and quantity edits, 2 active upsell offers, [editing on your thank-you and order status pages](https://getappfox.com/features), and email support. It doesn't expire. If your store outgrows 50 edits, that's usually the moment the math on \$19 for unlimited makes itself.
What counts as an edit?
An edit is a change a customer completes on your thank-you or order status page - an address fix, a variant swap, a quantity change, an item added or removed, or a cancellation. Customers just looking at their order doesn't count against your limit. And on Growth and Pro, nothing counts, because edits are unlimited.
Can I change plans later?
Yes, in either direction, whenever you want. Upgrades take effect right away so you get the new features immediately; downgrades take effect with your next billing cycle. Billing is handled through Shopify, so it all shows up on your existing Shopify invoice.
What's your refund policy?
Charges run through Shopify's standard app billing, and the trial plus free plan exist so you never pay for something unproven. If a charge ever feels wrong — you forgot to cancel, you downgraded late, something broke — email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com). We review every case individually and err on the side of the merchant.
Still shortlisting? [See how AppFox compares](https://getappfox.com/vs) to seven other order editing and upsell apps.
## There’s a “can I change my order?” email in your inbox right now

AppFox (“we”, “us”) makes AppFox Order Editing & Upsell, a Shopify app that lets customers edit their own orders and adds post-purchase upsells. This policy explains what data the app touches, why, and what happens to it. We have tried to keep it in plain language - if anything is unclear, email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com).
## 01What this policy covers
This policy covers the AppFox app installed from the Shopify App Store, the customer-facing editing it provides on your store’s thank-you and order status pages, and this marketing website. It does not cover Shopify itself or other apps you install - those have their own policies.
## 02Information we collect from merchants
When you install AppFox, we receive from Shopify:
* Your store name, store domain, and the email address on the store account.
* Your Shopify plan and store settings needed to configure the app.
* Your AppFox plan, billing status, and app configuration choices.
## 03Order data we access through the Shopify API
To power order editing, the app reads and updates order data through Shopify’s APIs. This includes order contents (products, variants, quantities, prices), shipping addresses, order status and fulfillment state, and the customer name and email attached to an order - used to send edit confirmations. We access only the data the app needs to function, under the API scopes you approve at install.
## 04How we use this information
* To let customers view and edit their orders within the rules you set.
* To run your approval queue, notifications, and integrations you enable.
* To process payment differences and refunds through Shopify when an edit changes an order total.
* To show you analytics about edits and upsell revenue in your dashboard.
* To provide support and to operate, secure, and improve the service.
## 05What we never do
* We do not sell your data or your customers’ data. Ever.
* We do not show third-party ads on your storefront or in the edit flow.
* We do not market to your customers or use their data to train models.
* We do not access data beyond the Shopify API scopes you approve.
## 06Sharing and subprocessors
We share data only with the service providers required to run AppFox - cloud hosting and infrastructure providers, and email delivery for transactional messages like edit confirmations. If you connect an optional integration (for example a helpdesk or Slack), we share only what that integration needs and only after you enable it. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
## 07Data retention and deletion on uninstall
When you uninstall AppFox, Shopify notifies us and we delete your store’s data from our systems within 30 days, except where a short retention period is required by law or for billing records. We also honor Shopify’s mandatory data-erasure requests for individual customers - when a customer asks your store to delete their data, the corresponding records held by AppFox are deleted too.
## 08Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Customer editing happens on your store’s own thank-you and order status pages, scoped to that single order - no account credentials are exposed. Access to production data is restricted to the small set of people who operate the service.
## 09Cookies
The merchant dashboard uses session cookies required for sign-in inside the Shopify admin. The customer editing experience runs on your store’s checkout-hosted pages and does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. This marketing site does not use third-party tracking cookies.
## 10Your rights and your customers' rights
For your customers’ data, you are the data controller and AppFox acts as a processor - we act on your instructions, given through the app and through Shopify’s privacy webhooks. If you or your customers exercise rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws (access, correction, deletion, portability), we will support the request. Start with Shopify’s built-in tools, or email us directly.
## 11Children
AppFox is a business tool for merchants and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, beyond order records your store lawfully holds.
## 12Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and notify merchants in the app. Questions, concerns, or data requests: [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com).

# Terms of service
Last updated: June 9, 2026
These terms govern your use of AppFox Order Editing & Upsell(“AppFox”, the “service”), the Shopify app and related websites we provide. They are written to be read - if anything is unclear, email [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com) before you rely on it.
## 01Agreement to these terms
By installing AppFox from the Shopify App Store or using the service, you agree to these terms on behalf of the business that operates the store. If you do not agree, do not install or use the service.
## 02The service
AppFox provides self-service order editing for your customers, merchant-side controls such as eligibility rules and an approval queue, post-purchase upsells, and related analytics and integrations. We may improve or change features over time; we will not materially reduce the core service you pay for without notice.
## 03Your account
You need an active Shopify store to use AppFox, and you must have the authority to bind that business. You are responsible for the staff accounts you allow into the app and for keeping access to your store secure.
## 04License and intellectual property
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your store’s own commerce while these terms are in effect. The service, its code, and its branding remain ours. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, or build a competing service from it. Your store’s data remains yours.
## 05Acceptable use
* Use the service only for lawful commerce on your own store.
* Do not attempt to access other merchants’ data or probe our systems.
* Do not use the service to send spam or to mislead your customers.
* Do not interfere with the operation or rate limits of the service.
We may suspend accounts that put other merchants or the service at risk.
## 06Fees, billing, and trials
Paid plans are billed through Shopify’s billing system on the recurring terms shown at checkout, and appear on your Shopify invoice. Free trials convert to the selected paid plan unless you cancel or downgrade before the trial ends. Plan changes take effect per Shopify’s billing rules. Except where required by law, fees already billed are non-refundable, though we are reasonable - if something went wrong, contact us.
## 07Order edits and your customers
AppFox executes edits according to the rules you configure - edit windows, cutoffs, approval requirements. You remain responsible for your store’s own policies and legal obligations to your customers, including fulfillment, refunds, taxes, and consumer-protection rules in the places you sell. Review your eligibility settings; an edit the app correctly applies under your configuration is your decision, not ours.
## 08Third-party services
The service runs on Shopify and uses Shopify’s APIs; your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify’s own terms. Optional integrations (helpdesk, Slack, automation tools) are provided by their own vendors under their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
## 09Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular revenue outcome will result from using it. Statistics on our website describe typical usage, not a promise about your store.
## 10Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability arising out of the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
## 11Termination
You can stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin; billing stops per Shopify’s billing rules and your data is deleted as described in our privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate the service for material breach of these terms, with notice where practical.
## 12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which AppFox is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. This section will be finalized with a named jurisdiction before launch.
## 13Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes we will update the date above and notify merchants in the app; continued use after a change means you accept the new terms. Questions: [support@getappfox.com](mailto:support@getappfox.com).

Comparisons
# Compare AppFox to other order editing apps
Every app in this category promises fewer support tickets and more revenue - the differences live in the details: how edits actually happen (in place, or cancel-and-reorder), what the pricing meters (edits, orders, even your upsell revenue), and how much control the merchant keeps. These comparisons lay out those details side by side, plainly. Where a competitor is genuinely strong, we say so; where the trade-offs favor AppFox - flat pricing with no per-edit fees, in-place editing that preserves your Shopify Payments fees, and an eligibility engine that hides ineligible edits entirely - we show our work.
NO. 01 - THE INDEXSeven comparisons, one standard.
* [0101AppFox vs CleverificOrder EditorREAD →Cleverific has spent a decade earning its reputation in admin-side order editing; the comparison comes down to whether you want staff-driven edits metered per edit with overage fees, or customer self-service at one flat price.](https://getappfox.com/vs/cleverific)
* [0202AppFox vs AfterSellPost-Purchase UpsellREAD →AfterSell is a strong checkout and thank-you page upsell app, but it doesn't let customers edit orders - so the real question is whether you want upsells alone, or upsells built into the moment customers are already managing their order.](https://getappfox.com/vs/aftersell)
* [0303AppFox vs Edit OrderOrder EditorREAD →Edit Order is Cleverific's tool for staff editing orders inside the Shopify admin; AppFox starts from the other end, letting customers resolve \~80% of common edits themselves so most tickets never reach your staff at all.](https://getappfox.com/vs/edit-order)
* [0404AppFox vs OrderEditing.comOrder EditorREAD →OrderEditing is the category's premium incumbent with proof to match, a $99/month floor, and per-order address-validation surcharges; AppFox delivers self-service editing and in-flow upsells from $0, with pricing published right on the homepage.](https://getappfox.com/vs/orderediting)
* [0505AppFox vs OrderifyOrder EditorREAD →Orderify handles changes by canceling the original order and creating a new one, which forfeits Shopify Payments fees of 1.5–2.9% per edit and sends customers back through checkout; AppFox edits in place, so the order, the payment, and the fees stay intact.](https://getappfox.com/vs/orderify)
* [0606AppFox vs ReConvertPost-Purchase UpsellREAD →ReConvert is a thank-you page upsell specialist with no self-service order editing, which means it monetizes the post-purchase moment but can't resolve the "can I change my order?" tickets that fill your inbox.](https://getappfox.com/vs/reconvert)
* [0707AppFox vs SelfServeOrder Editor & UpsellREAD →SelfServe is the closest competitor in spirit, with genuinely good self-service editing - but every tier caps both your order volume and your upsell revenue, so the better it works, the sooner you're forced to upgrade; AppFox caps neither.](https://getappfox.com/vs/selfserve)

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONPost-Purchase Upsell
## The short version
AfterSell is a solid pick if all you need is a post-purchase upsell funnel. But the highest-converting upsell moment isn't the order confirmation page - it's when a customer comes back to fix or change their order. AppFox owns both moments: it ships customer-facing order editing AND surfaces targeted upsells right inside the edit flow.
Best for
Merchants who want upsell revenue AND want to slash the support ticket volume created by customers asking for order changes.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from AfterSell
### Two revenue moments, not one
AfterSell sells on the thank-you page. AppFox sells there AND when customers return to edit their order - typically a higher-intent moment with better conversion.
### Full order editing included
Self-service address changes, variant swaps, item adds/removes, and cancellations are core AppFox features. AfterSell doesn't touch order editing.
### Eliminate "can I change my order?" tickets
AfterSell does nothing to reduce support load. AppFox cuts the #1 support category for most Shopify stores by giving customers self-service tools.
### Built-in approval workflows
AppFox includes a merchant approval queue for sensitive edits, plus a full audit timeline - features AfterSell doesn't need but every operations team will appreciate.

NO. 04 - SWITCHING QUESTIONSStraight answers, no hedging.
## Switching from AfterSell?
Can I use AppFox just for upsells, like AfterSell?
Yes. Order editing features can be left disabled - you'll still get the post-purchase upsell engine. Most merchants enable both because the edit flow becomes the #1 upsell surface.
Will AppFox conflict with AfterSell if I run both?
They can run side by side without issue. Most merchants who try AppFox end up consolidating, since AppFox covers both use cases plus order editing.
Do AppFox upsells convert as well as AfterSell?
Conversion rates depend on your products and offers, but the edit-flow upsell moment usually outperforms thank-you-page upsells because the customer has already returned with intent to engage.

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONOrder Editor
## The short version
Cleverific has been a staple for merchant-side order editing on Shopify for years. It's a deep tool - but it's built primarily for support agents, not your customers. AppFox is the modern, customer-first alternative: shoppers fix their own orders, sensitive edits land in a clean approval queue, and you get post-purchase upsells out of the box.
Best for
Brands tired of fielding "can I change my order?" tickets and ready to let customers self-serve - while keeping merchant oversight where it matters.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from Cleverific
### Customer self-service, not just merchant tools
Cleverific is built around the merchant admin. AppFox lets shoppers fix their own orders right on the thank-you and order status pages - without ever opening a ticket.
### Post-purchase upsells built in
Cleverific doesn't do upsells. AppFox turns every edit moment into a revenue opportunity with one-click product recommendations inside the edit flow.
### Eligibility engine, not raw editing
AppFox enforces edit windows, fulfillment cutoffs, and per-action rules - so customers never see an option that won't work. Cleverific leaves the policy work to the agent.
### Modern integrations
Native Gorgias, Shopify Flow, and Slack integrations ship in the box. Cleverific has fewer modern connectors and limited automation.

## Switching from Cleverific?
Can I migrate from Cleverific to AppFox?
Yes. AppFox can run alongside Cleverific while you transition. Most merchants migrate within a few hours since AppFox uses Shopify's native Order Editing API - no data export/import required.
Is AppFox cheaper than Cleverific?
Yes. AppFox starts at $0 with a free plan up to 50 edits per month, then $19/mo for unlimited. Cleverific's paid plans start higher and don't include a free tier.
Does AppFox support everything Cleverific does?
AppFox covers all the core merchant-side editing capabilities (address, variants, quantities, item add/remove, cancellations) plus customer self-service and post-purchase upsells - features Cleverific doesn't offer.

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONOrder Editor
## The short version
Edit Order is a long-running, admin-side editing tool. It works - but every change still requires a support agent. AppFox is a generation ahead: customers self-serve their own edits right on the thank-you and order status pages, sensitive changes route through an approval queue, and your support team only gets pulled in when they actually need to be.
Best for
Support and ops teams drowning in manual order edits who want to push routine fixes to customer self-service.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from Edit Order
### Customers fix their own orders
Edit Order requires an agent for every change. AppFox routes \~80% of common edits (address typos, quantity tweaks, variant swaps) directly to the customer - agents only touch what truly needs review.
### Eligibility rules out of the box
Configure edit windows, fulfillment cutoffs, and per-action restrictions in minutes. Edit Order leaves policy decisions to the agent each time.
### Built-in post-purchase upsells
Edit Order has no upsell layer. AppFox shows targeted product offers inside the edit flow - a free revenue lift.
### Modern automation
Native Shopify Flow triggers, Gorgias sidebar, and Slack alerts let your stack respond to edit events automatically.

## Switching from Edit Order?
How is AppFox different from Edit Order?
Edit Order is admin-only - agents make every change. AppFox adds customer self-service editing on top, plus eligibility rules, approval workflows, and post-purchase upsells.
Will my support team still be able to edit orders directly?
Yes. AppFox includes a full merchant admin for edits, exactly like Edit Order. The difference is that most edits now happen on the customer side, freeing your agents.
How long does migration take?
Most stores fully switch within an afternoon. Both apps use Shopify's native Order Editing API, so there's no data to migrate.

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONOrder Editor
## The short version
OrderEditing.com is a polished customer-facing portal - used by brands like Oh Polly, HexClad, and Ridge - that covers address edits, item swaps, cancellations, and post-purchase upsells. It's a strong product. The catch: pricing starts at $99/month and scales with order volume, making it inaccessible for most growing stores. AppFox ships the same customer-first philosophy with a generous free tier and paid plans starting at $19/month.
Best for
Growing stores that want OrderEditing.com-level UX without the \$99+/month price tag - and need the built-in approval queue and Shopify Flow automation that OrderEditing.com lacks.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from OrderEditing.com
### Dramatically lower pricing
OrderEditing.com starts at $99/month (and scales up with volume). AppFox has a free plan for up to 50 edits/month and a $19/month Growth plan with unlimited edits - no volume surcharges.
### Merchant approval queue included
AppFox routes sensitive edits through a clean approval queue with auto-apply rules per edit type. OrderEditing.com focuses on the customer flow but gives merchants less control over which edits need review.
### Shopify Flow + Gorgias + Slack
AppFox ships native Shopify Flow triggers, a Gorgias sidebar widget, and Slack alerts. OrderEditing.com's integration story is thinner for teams that rely on automation and helpdesk tooling.
### No volume-based price creep
OrderEditing.com charges more as your order volume grows. AppFox's flat monthly plans mean your costs are predictable no matter how fast you scale.

## Switching from OrderEditing.com?
Is AppFox a real alternative to OrderEditing.com for large stores?
Yes. AppFox uses Shopify's native Order Editing API and handles all the same edit types. The main difference is pricing - AppFox is flat-rate, OrderEditing.com scales with volume. For stores doing thousands of orders a month, AppFox can save hundreds of dollars monthly.
Does AppFox support multi-currency and Shopify Markets like OrderEditing.com?
AppFox supports multi-currency orders through Shopify's native APIs. Full multi-market upsell targeting (Shopify Markets) is on the roadmap for the Growth and Pro plans.
How hard is it to switch from OrderEditing.com?
Setup takes about 5 minutes. Since both apps use Shopify's Order Editing API, there's no data migration. You can run both in parallel during your trial period.

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONOrder Editor
## The short version
Orderify is one of the most affordable order editing apps on the Shopify App Store at \$4.99/month. It's a solid tool for new stores watching every dollar. The catch is architectural: Orderify handles 'edits' by cancelling the original order and dropping items back into a new cart for the customer to recheckout. That means you lose Shopify Payments processing fees on every edit - a cost that stacks up fast at volume. AppFox uses Shopify's native Order Editing API to modify orders in place, so no fees are lost and no recheck-out friction is added.
Best for
Stores that have outgrown Orderify's cancel-and-reorder model and want true in-place editing, without the lost payment fees or recheck-out drop-off.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from Orderify
### True in-place editing - no lost payment fees
Orderify cancels and recreates orders, which loses Shopify Payments processing fees (typically 1.5–2.9%) on every edit. AppFox modifies the original order in place via Shopify's API, so fees are never touched.
### No recheck-out friction for customers
Orderify's model dumps items into a new cart and asks the customer to check out again - increasing abandonment. AppFox edits are confirmed in a single click without re-entering payment details.
### Post-purchase upsells built in
Orderify doesn't offer upsells. AppFox surfaces targeted product recommendations inside the edit flow, turning every edit session into a potential revenue moment.
### Approval workflows and eligibility rules
Orderify has minimal merchant controls. AppFox lets you set edit windows, fulfillment cutoffs, per-action rules, and route sensitive edits through an approval queue.

NO. 04 - SWITCHING QUESTIONSStraight answers, no hedging.
## Switching from Orderify?
Orderify is cheaper - why would I pay more for AppFox?
Orderify's $4.99/month is attractive, but the hidden cost is losing Shopify Payments fees on every edit (1.5–2.9% of the order value). At 100 edits/month averaging $80/order, that's $120–$232/month in lost fees - more than AppFox's \$19/month plan with fees preserved.
Does AppFox support one-click reorders like Orderify?
AppFox focuses on editing existing orders rather than reordering. If reorder functionality is important to your post-purchase flow, it can be added alongside AppFox. Most merchants find that editing solves the same customer need without the re-checkout friction.
Will customers notice the difference between Orderify and AppFox?
Significantly. With Orderify, customers cancel their order and re-checkout. With AppFox, they confirm a change in one click and get an updated order confirmation. The AppFox flow has meaningfully lower abandonment during the edit process.

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONPost-Purchase Upsell
## The short version
ReConvert - now rebranded as Upsell.com - is one of the most widely installed post-purchase upsell apps on Shopify, with over 2,800 reviews. It's capable, but it comes with a pricing model that charges a 0.75% revenue share on top of monthly fees, and in early 2026, the app faced significant merchant backlash after it was found to be displaying third-party ads (including Capital One offers) on merchant thank-you pages without clear consent. AppFox offers post-purchase upsells with flat-rate pricing, no revenue share, and no third-party ads - ever.
Best for
Merchants who want reliable post-purchase upsells with predictable pricing, no revenue-share fees, and full order editing baked in.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from ReConvert
### No revenue-share fees
ReConvert charges 0.75% of every sale attributed to the app on top of the monthly plan. AppFox has flat-rate pricing - your upsell revenue is 100% yours.
### No third-party ads on your store
In early 2026, ReConvert was discovered to be showing Capital One and other third-party ads on merchant thank-you pages without explicit consent. AppFox will never display third-party ads on your storefront.
### Order editing included at no extra cost
ReConvert is upsell-only. AppFox ships the full self-service order editing stack alongside upsells - so you solve two major post-purchase problems with one app.
### Predictable monthly pricing
ReConvert's tiered plans scale with order volume and layer on a revenue percentage. AppFox Growth is \$19/mo flat regardless of order count or upsell revenue.

## Switching from ReConvert?
What happened with ReConvert and third-party ads in 2026?
In early 2026, multiple Shopify merchants reported that ReConvert was displaying Capital One credit card offers and other third-party ads on their checkout and thank-you pages without their knowledge or explicit consent. The developer acknowledged this as an intentional feature. AppFox has no third-party ad placements and never will.
How does AppFox's pricing compare to ReConvert's real cost?
ReConvert's entry plan is $4.99/month but adds 0.75% of attributed upsell revenue. At $3,000/month in upsell revenue, that's an extra $22.50 - already more than AppFox Growth at $19/mo with no percentage. At $10,000/month in upsells, ReConvert costs $74.99/month. AppFox stays at \$19.
Does AppFox have as many upsell templates as ReConvert?
ReConvert has a larger library of thank-you page widget types (birthday collectors, video blocks, countdown timers). AppFox focuses on high-converting product upsells inside the order edit flow. Most merchants find the AppFox upsell flow converts better because customers are in a higher-intent editing session.

NO. 01 - THE SHORT VERSIONOrder Editor & Upsell
## The short version
SelfServe is one of the most directly comparable apps to AppFox - it combines customer self-service order editing with post-purchase upsells and boasts a perfect 5-star rating on the Shopify App Store. For merchants evaluating both, the deciding factors usually come down to integrations and automation depth: AppFox ships native Shopify Flow triggers, a Gorgias helpdesk sidebar, Slack notifications, and a detailed analytics dashboard that SelfServe doesn't match at the same depth.
Best for
Teams that need Shopify Flow automation, helpdesk integration (Gorgias), or Slack alerts on top of their order editing and upsell stack.
NO. 02 - WHY MERCHANTS SWITCHThe differences that move the needle.
## Why merchants switch from SelfServe
### Deeper automation with Shopify Flow
AppFox exposes custom Flow triggers and actions for every edit event - auto-tag orders, notify warehouses, add gifts on upsell acceptance. SelfServe doesn't offer Flow integration.
### Native Gorgias integration
AppFox surfaces edit eligibility and pending requests directly in the Gorgias ticket sidebar - agents can approve or trigger edits without leaving the helpdesk. SelfServe has no Gorgias connector.
### Slack alerts and SLA tracking
AppFox notifies your merchant team on Slack when new requests arrive or SLA thresholds are breached. SelfServe has no Slack integration.
### Detailed analytics and audit timeline
AppFox tracks edit volume, approval rates, upsell revenue, and time-to-approve in a dashboard, with a per-order audit timeline for every action. SelfServe's analytics are more limited.

## Switching from SelfServe?
Both apps combine editing and upsells - what's the main difference?
The core editing and upsell features are very similar. AppFox's main advantages are the integration layer (Shopify Flow, Gorgias, Slack) and deeper analytics. If those matter to your team, AppFox is the better fit.
Does SelfServe have a free plan?
SelfServe offers a free trial but no permanent free tier. AppFox has a free plan with up to 50 edits/month that doesn't expire.
Can I import my SelfServe configuration into AppFox?
There's no direct migration tool, but AppFox's onboarding wizard covers all the same settings (edit types, windows, cutoffs, upsell rules) in about 5 minutes. Most teams are fully configured before the SelfServe trial ends.

# AI-Powered Upsell Recommendations for Shopify Orders
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/upsells/ai-recommendations
Let AppFox automatically recommend complementary products based on each order's contents. Available on Growth and Pro plans — no manual pairing needed.
On Growth and Pro plans, AppFox can automatically select and surface product recommendations based on the contents of each order. Instead of manually creating an offer for every possible product combination, you enable AI recommendations once and AppFox handles the matching — finding complementary items from your catalog and presenting them to customers inside the edit flow.
## How it works
AppFox analyzes the products in each order and identifies complementary items from your catalog. When a customer opens their order to make an edit, the recommendation appears alongside the editing controls on your thank-you page or order status page.
The customer sees the suggested product with a one-click add button. Accepting the recommendation adds the item directly to their existing order — no second checkout, no new order number — and the price difference is charged automatically on their original payment method.
AI recommendations work the same way as manual offers at the point of display. The difference is in how the product is selected: manually by you, or automatically by AppFox based on order context.
## Enabling AI recommendations
AI recommendations require the Growth ($19/mo) or Pro ($49/mo) plan. If you're on the Free plan, [upgrade or start a 14-day free trial](https://apps.shopify.com/appfox-order-editing-upsell) — no card required.
Log in to your AppFox dashboard and select **Upsells** from the main navigation.
Find the **AI-powered recommendations** toggle and switch it on.
If there are products or collections you never want surfaced as recommendations — discontinued items, low-margin products, items not suitable for upsell — add them to the exclusion list.
Click **Save**. AppFox will start surfacing AI-powered recommendations automatically on eligible orders.
## Manual offers vs AI recommendations
You choose exactly which products to recommend and define when each offer appears using visibility rules. Manual offers are best for:
* **Curated bundles** — specific product pairings you know perform well together
* **Seasonal promotions** — time-limited offers tied to a campaign or product launch
* **High-priority pairings** — a product you always want shown alongside a bestseller, regardless of what AI might suggest
Manual offers are available on all plans, including Free (up to 2 active offers).
AppFox automatically selects complementary products based on what's in each order. AI recommendations are best for:
* **Large catalogs** — manually pairing every product combination isn't practical when you carry hundreds of SKUs
* **Broad coverage** — AI fills the gaps where you haven't created a manual offer, so customers see a relevant suggestion regardless of what they ordered
* **Reducing setup time** — enable once and AppFox handles matching continuously as your catalog changes
AI recommendations are available on Growth ($19/mo) and Pro ($49/mo) plans.
AI recommendations and manual offers can run together. When a manual offer matches an order, it takes priority. AI fills in the gaps where no manual offer applies.
AI recommendations require the Growth plan ($19/mo) or Pro plan ($49/mo). The Free plan supports up to 2 manually created offers.

# How to Create Post-Purchase Upsell Offers in AppFox
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/upsells/creating-offers
Add product offers to your AppFox edit flow. Set which products to recommend, control how many show, and keep your upsells genuinely helpful.
You create and manage upsell offers directly in the AppFox dashboard. Each offer specifies a product to recommend, an optional title and description the customer sees, and the visibility rules that determine which orders trigger it. Offers appear inside the edit flow on your thank-you and order status pages — customers can add them to their existing order with a single click.
## Creating an offer
Log in to your AppFox dashboard and select **Upsells** from the main navigation.
Click **New Offer**. Use the product picker to search your Shopify catalog and select the product you want to recommend.
Give the offer a short, customer-facing title — for example, *"Complete your look"* or *"You might also need this"*. An optional description gives you a line to explain why the product pairs well. Keep both brief; customers see this while they're reviewing their order.
Choose who sees the offer: show it to all customers, or only to orders containing specific products or collections. Targeted visibility rules make the offer more relevant and improve acceptance rates.
Click **Save**. Toggle the offer to **Active** to start showing it immediately. You can deactivate it at any time without deleting it.
## Offer settings
**Product selection**
Choose any product from your Shopify store. You can select a specific variant or let the customer's cart context determine which variant is surfaced.
**Offer title and description**
The title and description are shown to the customer inside the edit flow. Keep the title to one short phrase and the description to a single sentence — customers are focused on their order, not reading copy.
**Visibility rules**
Show the offer to all customers, or restrict it to orders containing specific products or collections. For example, an offer for a protective case only appears when the customer has ordered the corresponding device.
**Activation and deactivation**
Toggle any offer on or off without deleting it. This is useful for seasonal promotions or temporary bundles — pause the offer when it's no longer relevant, reactivate it when it is.
## Best practices
The most effective upsell offers are ones customers are genuinely glad to see. A few guidelines:
* **Make offers complementary.** A matching accessory, a consumable refill, a protective case for a device — the product should make obvious sense alongside what the customer already ordered.
* **Limit active offers.** Showing too many options at once overwhelms customers and reduces acceptance. One to three active offers is typically optimal.
* **Use visibility rules to narrow relevance.** An offer that's precisely relevant to a customer's actual order converts far better than a generic offer shown to everyone.
* **Respect the moment.** Customers are in the edit flow to fix something. An offer that feels like a helpful suggestion fits the context; an offer that feels like a push doesn't.
The Free plan supports up to 2 active offers. Growth and Pro plans support unlimited offers.
The best upsell feels like a helpful suggestion, not a sales pitch. If you wouldn't recommend it in person, don't show it here.
On Growth and Pro plans, you can let AI-powered recommendations handle product selection automatically. See [AI Recommendations](/upsells/ai-recommendations).
## Next steps
Let AppFox automatically surface complementary products based on each order's contents — no manual pairing needed for every product combination.
# Post-Purchase Upsells Built Into the Shopify Edit Flow
Source: https://docs.getappfox.com/upsells/overview
AppFox shows product offers inside the order editing flow — the moment customers have full attention on their order and payment on file.
AppFox surfaces product offers directly inside the order edit flow — on your thank-you page and order status page, right where customers already land after checkout. When a customer opens their order to make a change, your upsell offer appears alongside it. One click adds the product to their existing order, no second checkout required, and any price difference is charged automatically on their original payment method.
## Why the edit moment converts
Most post-purchase upsell placements fail for the same reason: the customer has already moved on. A follow-up email lands in an inbox the customer has already forgotten about. A static thank-you page gets closed within seconds of the order number loading.
The edit flow is different. When a customer comes back to fix a shipping address or swap a size, they are fully inside their order — payment on file, intent proven, attention undivided. They're not browsing; they're engaged with a specific purchase they just made. An offer shown at that moment isn't an interruption, it's adjacent to what they're already doing.
One click accepts the offer and adds the item directly to their existing order. No second checkout, no new order number, no abandoned cart to chase — the edit settles on the original payment automatically.
## Key facts
An accepted offer is added directly to the existing order. No second checkout, no new order number, no re-entering payment details.
The price difference is charged automatically through Shopify on the customer's original payment method — no manual invoice needed.
Because the order is edited in place, Shopify Payments fees (1.5–2.9%) are never forfeited. Cancel-and-reorder flows lose those fees on every edit.
On Growth and Pro plans, AppFox automatically recommends relevant products based on what's in each order — no manual pairing required.
## Plan limits
