# AI-Powered Upsell Recommendations for Shopify Orders

> Let AppFox automatically recommend complementary products based on each order's contents. Available on Growth and Pro plans — no manual pairing needed.

On Growth and Pro plans, AppFox can automatically select and surface product recommendations based on the contents of each order. Instead of manually creating an offer for every possible product combination, you enable AI recommendations once and AppFox handles the matching — finding complementary items from your catalog and presenting them to customers inside the edit flow.

## How it works

AppFox analyses the products in each order and identifies complementary items from your catalog. When a customer opens their order to make an edit, the recommendation appears alongside the editing controls on your thank-you page or order status page.

The customer sees the suggested product with a one-click add button. Accepting the recommendation adds the item directly to their existing order — no second checkout, no new order number — and the price difference is charged automatically on their original payment method.

AI recommendations work the same way as manual offers at the point of display. The difference is in how the product is selected: manually by you, or automatically by AppFox based on order context.

## Enabling AI recommendations

    Log in to your AppFox dashboard and select **Upsells** from the main navigation.

  <Step title="Toggle AI-powered recommendations to enabled">
    Find the **AI-powered recommendations** toggle and switch it on.

  <Step title="Optionally exclude products or collections">
    If there are products or collections you never want surfaced as recommendations — discontinued items, low-margin products, items not suitable for upsell — add them to the exclusion list.

  <Step title="Save your settings">
    Click **Save**. AppFox will start surfacing AI-powered recommendations automatically on eligible orders.

## Manual offers vs AI recommendations

    You choose exactly which products to recommend and define when each offer appears using visibility rules. Manual offers are best for:

    * **Curated bundles** — specific product pairings you know perform well together
    * **Seasonal promotions** — time-limited offers tied to a campaign or product launch
    * **High-priority pairings** — a product you always want shown alongside a bestseller, regardless of what AI might suggest

    Manual offers are available on all plans, including Free (up to 2 active offers).

    * **Large catalogs** — manually pairing every product combination isn't practical when you carry hundreds of SKUs
    * **Broad coverage** — AI fills the gaps where you haven't created a manual offer, so customers see a relevant suggestion regardless of what they ordered
    * **Reducing setup time** — enable once and AppFox handles matching continuously as your catalog changes
