Creating an offer
Open the AppFox dashboard and go to Upsells
Log in to your AppFox dashboard and select Upsells from the main navigation.
Click New Offer and select a product
Click New Offer. Use the product picker to search your Shopify catalog and select the product you want to recommend.
Add a title and optional description
Give the offer a short, customer-facing title — for example, “Complete your look” or “You might also need this”. An optional description gives you a line to explain why the product pairs well. Keep both brief; customers see this while they’re reviewing their order.
Set visibility rules
Choose who sees the offer: show it to all customers, or only to orders containing specific products or collections. Targeted visibility rules make the offer more relevant and improve acceptance rates.
Offer settings
Product selection Choose any product from your Shopify store. You can select a specific variant or let the customer’s cart context determine which variant is surfaced. Offer title and description The title and description are shown to the customer inside the edit flow. Keep the title to one short phrase and the description to a single sentence — customers are focused on their order, not reading copy. Visibility rules Show the offer to all customers, or restrict it to orders containing specific products or collections. For example, an offer for a protective case only appears when the customer has ordered the corresponding device. Activation and deactivation Toggle any offer on or off without deleting it. This is useful for seasonal promotions or temporary bundles — pause the offer when it’s no longer relevant, reactivate it when it is.Best practices
The most effective upsell offers are ones customers are genuinely glad to see. A few guidelines:- Make offers complementary. A matching accessory, a consumable refill, a protective case for a device — the product should make obvious sense alongside what the customer already ordered.
- Limit active offers. Showing too many options at once overwhelms customers and reduces acceptance. One to three active offers is typically optimal.
- Use visibility rules to narrow relevance. An offer that’s precisely relevant to a customer’s actual order converts far better than a generic offer shown to everyone.
- Respect the moment. Customers are in the edit flow to fix something. An offer that feels like a helpful suggestion fits the context; an offer that feels like a push doesn’t.
